Whether you click a photo in a popular city street or in a tourist spot, there is bound to be the presence of other people. As a consequence, the attention switches from the real subject. Hence, removing people using Photoshop is your ideal option.

Sometimes, it is difficult to remove people from the photos especially when there is a moving element in your background such as water, flags, smoke. Unless you are a professional or skilled at using Photoshop, the final result of such photos will be blurry. In these circumstances, you can take help from background removing services. Look for such services and you can get your work done at a low price.

Find A Good Location

If you are determined to remove people from your travel photos, the first thing you should do is find a good location. By a good location, we do not mean a popular place rather a place that does not have too many people. You can remove one or a few people, but removing a crowd will be next to impossible.

Of course, you want to click a photo in a popular place. A popular place is naturally crowded. Try to click photos when there are not many people.

Take Multiple Pictures

After finding your preferable location, click multiple pictures. Wait some time for people in the frame to move and then click another photo. Thus click a good number of pictures.

People in a photo block the background. When you click plenty of photos, the blocked background will be revealed.  Be careful so that the photos are similar in their position. Using a tripod can help you click similar pictures. You can also set your camera on a solid surface.

Select The Best Photos

See the photos carefully and select the ones you will combine. Sometimes two photos are enough and, sometimes you need to combine a lot of photos. Do not be frightened if you need to use a lot of photos.

Open The Photos In Photoshop

To open the photos in photoshop, first, open the photoshop and then click File ➤ script ➤ Load Files Into Stacks. Then a dialog window will appear where you will select the photos you have chosen. Now click on Browse and then on OK. Thus all the photos will be opened in different layers.

Align The Images

Clicking photos without a tripod needs you to align the photos. However, if you have used a tripod, the photos will naturally be aligned. In order to align the photos in Photoshop, first select the layers by pressing Ctrl+Alt+A. Once the photos are selected, click Edit ➤ Auto-Align Layers ➤ OK.

After that, Photoshop will go through your layers and look for similar pixels to align them. You can check whether the layers of photos are perfectly aligned or not.

Decide What To Keep And What To Remove.

Before proceeding further, think about what parts of the image you want to keep and what parts you want to remove. When you know what elements you want in your picture and what you do not, move to the next step.

Create A Mask

First, switch on the blend mode. Go to the layer menu, and at its bottom, you will see Add Layer Mask. Select a layer and click on Add Layer Mask.

There will be a white mask on the selected layer. The white-masked area will enable you to see through the next layer.

Remove Unwanted Elements

Since adding the mask enables you to see through the next layer, the mask out can remove people and other unwanted elements from the picture. Use the Brush tool to mask out unnecessary elements.

Go to the left side of the screen. There you will see a tool looking like a brush. Select the tool and choose the color black. Select the type and size of the brush based on your need. You can also choose the default brush. Once you have selected the brush, start to remove undesired parts from the image. With the aim of doing that, select the area of the layer and mask it out.

While removing people and other elements, be careful lest you should mask out an important part of the image. However, if you do this, you can fix it by just changing the color of the brush. Select the color white and paint over the part you have removed unintentionally.

While painting, you should check how the mask changes the image. Press Alt+ click to see the image on full screen. Again press Shift+ click to disable the mask from the layers. Now you know how the image looks originally. Compare this photo and the original photo to detect whether you have masked out an important element or not.

Create A Smart Object To Hold It All Together

Once you are done with removing people from your photos, press Ctrl+Alt+A to select all the layers. Now right-click on any side of the selected layer and then select Convert to Smart Object. It will adjust the image in such a way that it will look like there is a single layer.

Conclusion

The method we have given above can get rid of the other people you want to remove from your photo. Not only people, but also you can use this method to remove other undesirable items from your photo. You can also use this method to combine two different photos of different times or of different seasons and create a majestic photo.
