So, what if we combined the two? That is what this article is about; how to link Sarahah to Snapchat.

Sarahah, developed by a Saudi developer, was initially released in the Middle East and North Africa with a purpose of letting people use it to leave feedback, comments, compliments and more for people. This was meant to boost people and praise them, helping them build up their self-confidence. The idea behind Sarahah was to allow people to give their honest opinions; the name itself means honesty in Arabic. It slowly gained popularity and it wasn’t long before the app finally reached audiences in the western world. Now, it has become so popular that people are linking the app with their various social networking accounts, including Snapchat.

What started as a way to compliment other people has now become more of an anonymous messaging app and has seen an increase in its user base throughout the world. In fact, there are millions of downloads of this app throughout the world. Why is it so popular though? Because of the simple fact that you can send anonymous messages to anyone you want; they will never be able to know who sent those messages or reply to them. The intent behind Sarahah was to create a positive space for everyone, where people could communicate freely and leave positive thoughts, but who doesn’t know how the internet really works. Everyone knows that when it comes to anything anonymous, there are those will take advantage. Yet, many people still continue to use the app despite all such risks.

And What’s Up with Snapchat?

Developed by Bobby Murphy, Evan Spiegel and Reggie Brown, Snapchat was initially released in the September of 2011. A multimedia and image messaging mobile application, Snapchat has been around for over six years, and people throughout the world absolutely love it. The app has over 166 million daily active users and these users never leave the app unsatisfied. Why? Because Snapchat gives its users exactly what they need and want. The very idea behind Snapchat is a testament to this; images that disappear after a short amount of time is something we have all wanted at one point or another, and Snapchat delivers this in the best way possible.

That’s not all it provides its users with though; the snaps you send through Snapchat have a lot of options for editing. For example, you can add a range of filters, effects, stickers, emojis and Bitmojis. You can also draw on the pictures and add text to it. Then you also have the option to record videos and send these to your contacts in the same way you would send pictures. These can be edited as well, and similar to other snaps, they only remain for a short amount of time. All these features, and the constant addition of new features has made Snapchat one of the most popular social networking apps and we can all see why.

Imagine the anonymity of Sarahah paired with the temporary nature of snaps on Snapchat combined; it could either be something wonderful or something disastrous depending on how you choose to use it. But, if you were to link Sarahah with your Snapchat account, you would be able to send anonymous messages to all your Snapchat contacts. So, if you’re wondering how to link Sarahah to Snapchat, know that it’s really easy, especially after one of the recent updates from Snapchat which allows users to add links to their posts. So, without further ado, let’s see how to link Sarahah to Snapchat with ease.

  • The first thing you have to do is go to the Apple Store of Google Play Store, depending on your device, and download and install Sarahah.
  • Once it has successfully installed, open it and register an account. How? First, tap on the “Register” button to set up your account. All you have to do is provide a username and a password. Your Sarahah URL is made from the username you choose so be careful when entering your username because it will remain with you for as long as you use Sarahah. It will appear as “username.sarahah.com”.
  • Next, let’s move on to the Snapchat aspect of things. Open Snapchat and log in to your account if you haven’t already logged in. Here, take a snap of anything you want.
  • Then, tap on the Paperclip icon visible on the right side of the screen. This icon lets you attach URL to your post.
  • Now, go to the space where it says “Type a URL” and type in your Sarahah URL without the “http://”.
  • Then, tap on “Go” to search for the account that is linked with the URL and wait until it loads completely.
  • After that, tap on the Paperclip icon again and in the text box that appears under the “Leave a constructive message :)”, write something positive.
  • You can then attach it to your snap by tapping on the blue “Attach to Snap” button available near the bottom.

That’s it, your Sarahah is now linked to your Snapchat account. You can send this particular snap to anyone in your contact list. Now, since this is still a new feature, there are some issues with it but you can use an alternate method for linking your two accounts if the above one doesn’t work. What is this alternate method? Read on below to find out.

  • Again, open your Snapchat app and take a snap of anything you want.
  • Now, tap on the Paperclip icon once again from the camera screen so you can attach the URL you want.
  • This time, do not type your whole username URL. Instead, only type sarahah.com and select Go. The Sarahah website will now open in your browser.
  • When the website has loaded completely, log in to your account.
  • You will see a Link icon next to your username on the website’s main page. Simply click on this icon.
  • Finally, tap on “Attach to Snap” to finish linking your Snapchat account with that of Sarahah.

Both methods do the same exact thing but the second one works well if, for some reason, Snapchat is unable to pull the Sarahah URL from its website using the first method.

Should You Link Your Sarahah and Snapchat Accounts?

Okay, so you know how to link Sarahah to Snapchat, but the question is, should you? Is it worth it to link these two social networking apps? Zain al-Abidin Tawfiq, the developer behind Sarahah has said that Sarahah was originally developed to provide employees with an opportunity to give feedback to their bosses without fearing the consequences or repercussions. This goal is commendable indeed, and would probably work in cultures where people genuinely respect each other. However, if we’re being honest to ourselves, it doesn’t work so well with western audiences.

We all know how bad social media can be. We have all seen how toxic Twitter can get; people hide behind fake profiles and use the apparent anonymity of online accounts to spread hate all the time. Now, imagine if there was no name or face to such people’s account at all, not even a fake one; no way to even hint at their real identity. In fact, Sarahah goes a step further and makes it impossible for people to reply to messages, trace who has sent what, redress them or hold them accountable for anything they say. It is no wonder that the app has already seen instances of people being bullied and receiving a lot of bad material.

So, when you decide to link your Snapchat and Sarahah account, make sure you’re aware of what you’re getting yourself into. Sure, you’ll receive some positive comments from the people who know you, but there is a high chance that some people will use it as an opportunity to send you hate and negative comments. If you’re sure you can handle all of that, then go ahead and link your account to start using the apps together.

These are all our own assumptions of course, and you won’t know how your experience will be unless you try it. So, have you tried it? If you would like to share your experience, don’t hesitate to let us know!
